Time is money
The enormous capital expenditure involved in major
projects during plant construction calls for ever shorter construction
periods. Correspondingly, suppliers of components are faced with ever
tighter deadlines. Pipe supports are hardest hit because they are at
the end of the line as far as the chain of planning is concerned. To
ensure efficient installation, they should however be fitted in advance
of the piping.
No more reserves at the end
The whole project is already well advanced when the
pipelines are installed, and any possible planning reserves will
already have been exhausted. Any further delay causes shock waves and
extremely high costs, especially if the approaching completion deadline
is already in danger of being overrun.
All-encompassing responsibility
Just as much as for high quality, everyone in the
company bears responsibility for meeting delivery deadlines. This is
monitored by the Order Logistics department, which controls the
processing of orders via an integrated logistics program from reception
to final dispatch. Wide responsibilities have been placed on this
department for the effective implementation of procedures, especially
regarding deadlines set at short notice.
The
essential foundation for all this is a storage and fabrication
organization which through appropriate disposition ensures instant
availability.
