On the outskirts of the metropolis Santiago de Chile with its millions of inhabitants, in an exposed position at the foot of the Andes a new and spectacular temple has been constructed. Nine translucent wings joining at the top in a sky dome are the salient feature of this extraordinary building. The cladding of the wings consists of cast panes of glass held in an aluminum substructure. For the interior of the cladding, Portuguese marble, which is also translucent, was used. During the day this material structure allows sunlight to stream through; at night, soft light shines through from the interior. In the base points of the steel supporting structure m.connect compression rod systems were implemented.
