In the mid-fifties, Gerhard Liesegang was working as senior project engineer for a well-known piping company. His task - the creation of complex pipeline systems from the planning stage to installation. His problem - delivery dates and effective production were constantly put at risk by labor shortages. His solution - to lower the cost of design, production and installation of pipeline supports by using easy-to-manufacture parts based on a modular design, which could be combined with each other.

The main elements of this program were constant hangers, supports which can cope effectively with large vertical movements of a pipeline. For this purpose, Gerhard Liesegang succeeded in developing a hanger based on a new principle which offered decisive advantages over existing systems.

In particular, its wide ranging load adjustment allowed the number of hanger sizes to be significantly reduced, making it possible to arrange all components into technically sensible and economically appropriate load groups. These new components proved themselves in current projects right from the outset.

In October 1964 Gerhard Liesegang founded his own company. This was the first step along the road which led LISEGA, in the 25 years that followed, to become the world's most important manufacturer of standard pipe supports.

He experienced this success, in which he never doubted, as a well-deserved triumph. Those who worked with him show their thanks for his creativity and courage by keeping alive in his life's work the philosophy of success which they lived out with him.
